Why Hurghada is our main hub

Hurghada sits on the edge of the Eastern Desert, a 20-minute drive from a city of half a million to dunes that haven't been touched since the last rainy season. That combination (fast airport access, deep hotel infrastructure, genuinely wild terrain five minutes from the coast) is why it's the most-visited desert region in Egypt, and why most of our tours run from here.

What the desert looks like

Classic sand dunes on the inland side, with palm-fringed wadis cutting through valleys of dark volcanic rock. In the early morning the dunes pick up a pink light that's almost impossible to photograph badly. By afternoon they're gold, by sunset they're deep orange, and after dark the Milky Way hits hard once you're 10km from the city lights.

Who Hurghada is for

If this is your first Egypt Safari booking, start here. The fleet is big, the pickup network is easy, the tours run daily, and there is an option for every age and skill level. Families can choose camel and jeep routes, first-time riders can pick a guided quad safari, and groups can book the full Super Safari.

Getting to the pickup point

All Hurghada tours include A/C van pickup from your hotel lobby. We cover every hotel from Makadi Bay south to El Gouna north, including Sahl Hasheesh, Safaga, and Soma Bay. Pickup times are confirmed by WhatsApp after you book, usually 30 to 45 minutes before your tour starts. Bottled water in the car, free of charge.

Common questions about Hurghada.

About riding in Hurghada

  • Is Hurghada good for a first desert safari?

Yes, it's the best place in Egypt to start. The quads are fully automatic, the guide stays with you the whole ride, and every tour begins with a 15-minute lesson on flat ground. Over 90% of Hurghada tour bookings are first-timers.

  • How much does a Hurghada desert safari cost?

Hurghada tours start from EUR 20 per adult for a quad and camel combo, and EUR 25 for the full Super Safari (quad + buggy + camel + BBQ dinner). Kids ride cheaper, and the Private Jeep Safari runs from EUR 55 per person, or EUR 200 flat for the whole jeep. Full pricing is visible on every tour page.

  • What should I wear for a Hurghada safari?

Closed shoes, long trousers or leggings, and a light jacket for the evening (the desert cools fast once the sun drops). We hand out head scarves against the dust. Bring sunglasses and a bandana if you have them, and avoid loose, flowing clothing on the quads.

  • Is a Hurghada desert safari safe?

Yes. Every quad has a speed governor, every tour starts with a 15-minute riding lesson on flat ground, and guides ride behind the group the whole route. We only work with garages that do daily mechanical checks.

  • What's included in the Hurghada Super Safari?

Hotel pickup and drop-off by A/C van, the riding lesson, the quad ride, a spider buggy session, a camel ride, a Bedouin village visit, full BBQ dinner, and a Tanoura and Bedouin show to close the night. No hidden fees.

  • Can I cancel my Hurghada booking?

Yes, free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup. Bookings default to Pay on arrival, so there is nothing to refund if you cancel in time. For online-paid bookings, refunds hit your card within 3 business days.

  • How far is the desert from my hotel?

20 to 40 minutes by A/C van depending on which hotel area you're staying in. Hurghada city hotels and Makadi Bay are closest, El Gouna and Soma Bay are about 35 minutes. Pickup time is confirmed on WhatsApp the evening before.

  • Can I book a tour on the day I arrive?

Most Hurghada tours have afternoon or evening availability, so yes. WhatsApp us your hotel name and arrival time, and we'll slot you into a tour that starts after check-in. Same-day bookings need a few hours of notice, and each tour page shows the exact cutoff.

  • What's the minimum age for a Hurghada safari?

It depends on the tour. The stargazing jeep and the Private Jeep Safari take all ages, the sunset camel ride starts at 4, and horse riding at 8. Driving a quad or a buggy needs age 12 and up. The Super Safari takes kids from 7, riding as passengers with a parent until age 12. We never bend these limits, and every tour page shows its exact minimum age.

  • Is Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh better for a desert safari?

Hurghada has more tour variety, bigger quad fleets, easier pickup, and daily departures year-round. Sharm has quieter desert and a clearly better night sky. If it's your first Egypt Safari, pick Hurghada. If you have done a safari before and want something different, pick Sharm.
