Sinai is a different desert
While the Hurghada desert is classic open sand dunes, Sharm El Sheikh sits on the Sinai peninsula, which means rockier terrain, deeper canyons, and fewer operators running tours in it. The altitude is slightly higher, the air is drier, and the drop in ambient light pollution once you leave the hotel strip is immediate and dramatic.
Why travelers pick Sharm over Hurghada
Usually for one of three reasons. First, they have already done Hurghada and want something quieter. Second, they are in Sharm and want a half-day desert option, not a full Super Safari. Third, and most common lately, they want the stargazing. Sharm night sky is genuinely exceptional.
The Bedouin connection runs deep
Sinai has been Bedouin territory for centuries, longer than the resort strip has been here, longer than the airport, longer than the dive industry. The families we work with on the Sharm side have been guiding visitors into their desert for three generations. The food at the camp is cooked by Bedouin women using recipes that haven't changed, and the music at the night sessions is live, not a speaker playing a Spotify mix.
Getting to the pickup point
All tours include A/C van pickup from every major Sharm hotel area: Naama Bay, Sharks Bay, Nabq Bay, Ras Um El Sid and Hadaba. Pickup times are confirmed by WhatsApp after you book. Evening tours usually leave hotels around 3 to 4 PM, depending on season and sunset time.
