Sinai quad guide

Quad biking in Sharm El Sheikh

The desert behind Sharm El Sheikh is Sinai, and a quad safari here feels different from the west side of the Red Sea. You ride packed sand tracks between rocky plateaus and real mountains, with wadis cutting through the landscape instead of endless flat dunes. The quads are automatic, our guides set the pace, and hotel pickup from Naama Bay to Nabq is in the price. Keep it short with the three hour ATV and camel combo from EUR 20, or take the evening Super Safari with Bedouin camp, dinner and show. This page covers the routes, real prices, minimum ages, slots, and what to wear.

What the ride actually feels like

Every tour starts the same way: helmet on, short safety briefing, practice loop. Then the group rides out in a line behind the guide, with a second guide at the back so nobody drifts off. The quads are automatic, so you handle a thumb throttle, brakes, and steering, and that is the whole skill list. On the standard three hour tour you get roughly 45 to 60 minutes of real riding, split by a camel and tea stop. The guide lifts the pace once the group looks steady, and reels it back in whenever someone needs a calmer stretch.

Sinai routes and terrain

This is the big difference from Hurghada. The tracks behind Sharm run between rocky plateaus, dry wadis, and mountains that sit close enough to feel like walls. You get firmer ground, more shape to the landscape, and corners that actually mean something, instead of one long flat plain. Photo stops land at points where the cliffs frame the track, and on afternoon rides the rock turns deep orange before the sun drops behind the range. If you have already ridden quads on open sand, the Sinai version will still feel new.

Prices and what is included

The ATV quad and camel combo starts at EUR 20 per adult and EUR 12 per child. That covers hotel pickup and drop-off, the quad, a helmet, the camel ride, Bedouin tea, and a guide. The evening Super Safari costs EUR 25 per adult and adds a Bedouin camp visit, dinner, and a local show after the riding, with drop-off at your hotel the same night. If someone in your group would rather sit than drive, the Sinai jeep safari at EUR 40 covers the same desert from a 4x4 seat. Extras are limited to photos, scarves and goggles at the station, and tips.

Minimum age to drive

On the quad-only ATV and camel tour, drivers need to be 12 or older. On the combined Super Safari, kids from 7 can come along, and anyone under 12 rides as a passenger with a parent or guardian on the same quad, which keeps the family on one machine and everyone at the same dinner table afterwards. Children under 7 do not join the quad routes at all, even as passengers. For mixed families with small kids, the jeep safari is the workaround: everyone sits in the 4x4 and nobody touches a throttle.

Morning, afternoon, or the dinner evening

The ATV and camel combo runs twice a day, around 8:00 in the morning and again mid afternoon, 15:00 in summer and 14:00 in winter. Morning means cooler air and a free evening. The afternoon ride catches the low light on the cliffs, which is when Sinai looks its best. The Super Safari picks up later, around 16:00 in summer and 15:00 in winter, so the quad part ends at sunset and the evening finishes with dinner and a show at the Bedouin camp before the drive back. Every option returns to your hotel the same day.

Hotel pickup zones

Pickup and drop-off are included from Naama Bay, Sharks Bay, Nabq Bay, Ras Um El Sid, Hadaba, and the main Sharm El Sheikh hotel zone. We confirm the exact window after booking, since the driver builds the route around where each hotel sits. Transfers are air conditioned and the drive to the quad station is short from most areas, usually around 30 minutes. If you are staying somewhere outside these zones, send us the hotel name on WhatsApp before booking and we will tell you straight away whether pickup works.

What to wear and how the safety side works

Closed shoes, sunglasses, and a scarf or buff against the dust are the essentials. Sunscreen matters even in winter, and the evening tours need a warm layer, because Sinai cools fast once the sun is gone, faster than the Hurghada side. Helmets are provided, every departure starts with a briefing and a practice loop, and the guide checks that each rider can steer and brake before the route opens up. Keep your phone in a zipped pocket, leave loose bags at the hotel, and let the guide know about any injuries before you set off.

よくある質問

  • Do I need a driving licence for a quad in Sharm El Sheikh?+

No. The routes run on private desert tracks in Sinai, not public roads. You need to be 12 or older and able to follow the safety briefing, and that is it.

  • How much does a quad safari in Sharm cost?+

The ATV and camel combo starts at EUR 20 per adult with pickup, helmet, camel ride and guide included. The evening Super Safari with dinner and show starts at EUR 25.

  • Can children join?+

From 12 they drive their own quad. From 7 they ride as a passenger with an adult on the Super Safari. Under 7, book the jeep safari instead and keep everyone in the 4x4.

  • Is the Sinai terrain harder than Hurghada?+

Not harder to ride, just more interesting. The ground is firmer and the tracks curve between rocks and wadis, but the guide sets a pace beginners can hold.

  • Does the evening tour involve sleeping in the desert?+

No. The Super Safari ends with dinner and a show at the Bedouin camp, then we drive you back to your hotel the same night. Every tour returns the same day.

  • Is pickup from Nabq and Sharks Bay included?+

Yes. Naama Bay, Sharks Bay, Nabq Bay, Ras Um El Sid, Hadaba and the main Sharm hotel zone are all covered in the listed price.
